Guess I am the only gaijin reviewer here, but that's ok. Take note all you worldly spa goers, bcuz this is true spa -ing. Here, you will trade up marble statues & floral bouquets for hot tubbing & skin scrubbing alongside a bevy of naked, glowing, Japanese women.
The Procedure is called AKASURI. It is actually a Korean treatment.
1) hot steam & sauna to loosen your top layer of skin
2) Jump in ice cold pool- repeat a few times. You will also find your respiratory becomes more clear
3) Shower ...
4) Relax till a portly Korean lady in her underwear & bra brings you to your table
5) Climb onto slippery white vinyl massage table (along side 3 - 6 naked others)
6) Get hosed by Korean lady
7) Korean lady scrubs off your skin off with little green glove
8) Korean lady massages you with oil -HARD
9) Next up - Korean lady gives you a freshly grated cucumber facial with hot towels - and washes your hair.
10) Korean lady hoses you down- slathers you in yogurt milk - rinse
11) Go lay down - relax
I've have been to Japan over 30 times & make it a point to visit Ruby Palace every chance I get. I loved it so much I wanted my own akasuri spa in Vancouver. Cost is usually 150,000 yen (about $200 cdn)
Sorry for not having pics. I never thought to take any of the spa. I am fairly new to posting my reviews.
