It is Ok as a local pub. Wouldn't make the effort of driving here only for the food if it was not close by.
Quick service, that's a plus!

Walked to the pub to have a meal with a friend. Ordered the food - had to change my order as they'd run out of roast meat! Chose cod and chips.... not really what I wanted but nothing else appealed. When the food arrived - the cod was luke warm and the batter was soggy - the chips were not great either - there were burned pieces in the portion I was served! A totally unappealing meal!
The staff kept opening the door behind our table - there was a chill wind - and when we asked them to close it - the waitress said that the staff were hot! They closed it and I took off my coat - but they opened it AGAIN at least 3 times - so by this time, we finished the food and left.
When serving the food - the waitress leaned across my plate to hand the dish to my husband - why she didn't walk around the small table I don't know! Tried to look for a manager to tell but no-one seemed to be taking charge.
Poor service - staff need to remember who the customer is! Food is cheap - portions average size.

Thought I'd treat myself to a nice hunters chicken but wish I hadn't bothered. Having waited for 35 minutes I asked what the delay was and it turns out a waitress thought I was in the garden. Totally tasteless chicken that seemed to have been overcooked in a microwave and it probably has. If I hadn't been starving if have sent it back. Won't be coming back to this place again.

The food is always good, staff are always really friendly and helpful. I come often as it's not far from where I live and I've only ever once experienced a bad service day, where the food took quite some time to arrive but the staff were really apologetic and sincere. Dog friendly (this is new for me to have to add to reviews) they keep dog bowls with water outside and they even let dogs in certain sections inside. Overall a great pub.
