Lovely food and attentive service. BUT; asked to settle the bill and paid. After paying I realised the amount was wrong and queried the bill by asking for a breakdown. £4 had been added to the bill for "optional service". I had not known about "optional service" or been asked for this to be added to the bill. Waitress looked mortified I would challenge this and reluctantly gave me £4 cash from the register. This spoilt the atmosphere, I would have no objection to giving service as this was good but, don't add it to my bill as "optional" without my permission it's dishonest.

Stopped for dinner, service was friendly but a bit slow. Food was good, their trademark burger was tasty.

Excellent Sunday roast. Freshly cooked and beautifully presented. Soft jazz in the background and candlelit surroundings. Relaxed atmosphere with friendly, attentive staff. Well done!

Lovely pub with plenty of seating both inside and outside. Very good central location, good selection of beers and local ciders on tap. We just sat in for a drink but the burger and the Cornish mussels looked so good we will come back from Bristol to try them. The service was friendly even on a busy Sunday afternoon.

A cracking find. Lovely staff, a great old building, half set out as a restaurant and half as a bar that you can also have food in if you wish. Four real ales on, all local brews from four different breweries. Beer quality excellent.
