I visited Lepis Dore in Menlo Park for breakfast on Sunday 19.6.. Last time I had a meal at Lepis Dore well known for their awesome crepes was about 6 years ago, so I was not really surprised that the menu had changed since then and happily placed an order. When the food arrived I was speechless. My French bread toast with smoked salmon and cheese looked like something only a worst, lazy cook could put together. Two toasted slices of bread with a white thin milky sauce ( no cheese ) leaking out of the toast . When wondering where the salmon was I opened the toast . A chunk of salmon as it comes from the packaging ( no slices separated ) was covering just a small part of the bread ( about a 1/3 ) in the middle. No effort was made to present this horrible creation with at least one salad leaf or cherry tomato. Just slice of leaky toast on white plate. All that for over R70,- I never experienced food being so tasteless, blunt and presented on the plate with such a customer insulting manner.

Great little specialty restaurant, on the pricey side though.
The quality of food here is outstanding, the service is excellent. The location is also quite quaint and fairly central for anyone in Pretoria.
The only negative, losing one star, is the cost of items here. Yes it is a very upmarket place, but it makes a special family meal/date a little expensive, especially for the student crowd, even for special occasions. To be fair, not every establishment must cater for the less well funded, it just loses one star because of this from my point of view.
If you can afford it, definitely worth a try
