The path leading towards the Wally's Cave has sign with "Vegetation rehabilitation" words and "hiking prohibited" picture placed on the spot where the path turns of the gravel road on the main way up Lion's Head. The path was never official path, Wally's Cave was never opened to public and everything else done outside the official path up Lion's Head is ILLEGAL, the movements on the path are monitored and rangers will issue fines of R500 if caught on the path. The "stakeholders" are being consulted (don't know who those are) and if the path becomes official it will be announced. SE Arête is now an impossible hike as there is no "official" way to get to it and the same goes for big part of climbs on Lion's Head.

Simply amazing! It's worth the effort!

Short hike for beginners, really easy and fast way to get to the cave.
Beautiful view I think it's something you must do in Cape Town.
I was a bit disappointed for the size of the cave I imagined a big cave in the mountain but it's a bit small.
Doesn't change the view and the pleasure to get there ;)

The path is safe and there are a lot of securities available, e.g. camera's and scouts. In the weekend it's usually busy there and you have to wait sometimes up to 15 minutes to climb up. I'd recommend to start walking at 6am in the morning.

It'll take you 1 hour to walk up to the top and about 1,5-2 hours to walk down. Since I see a lot people carrying not fitted shoes, e.g. jogging ones, sandals; I HEAVILY recommend wearing mountain boots because stones can be slippery.

Most amazing view of Table Mountain. Great place to Hang out and take photos with your friends or stranger you've met there. If you are not familiar it might be kind of hard to find, so be sure to research before you go.
