I have been lucky enough to spend many weeks (over several years) at the Casa Pátria, and have never had anything less than a fantastic experience. No matter what the weather, the house is wonderful, the neighborhood is relaxed, the meals are amazing, and the people are friendly. It's remarkably easy to feel at home there, which about the highest praise one can give a place in a foreign city. My love for Lisbon has everything to do with that house and its surroundings, as well as the people who run it, and their good nature and willingness to help. Few days are as sad as the ones I have to spend packing to leave!
