Good location in the shopping center of old Rijswijk. Good parking possibilities. Food quality is good and service very friendly. When the weather is fine it is possible to eat outside.

I ventured into Oud Riswijk in the search for more soul to the place and found it in De Wits. Not a Dutch speaker, I was welcomed with a big smile by the lovely waiting staff. I was again avoiding Heineken so chose the a really flavoursome dark beer. I was immediately taken by the cover of warm crusty bread with not only butter, but their very own smoked mushroom mayonnaise - where can I buy some??
My starter of Likkepot (paté veal pastrami, pickles, crusty croutons and chive mayonnaise) was presented beautifully in a modern style. One of those dishes where you lift and discover a new element each time. My roast venison in a Texel Winter Beer gravy main course was accompanied by croquette potato, pumpkin/orange cream and another extravagant smear of carrot compote and cinnamon. The venison itself was perfectly cooked - pink and therefore oozing with flavour. The preceding dishes were exemplary so felt I had to have a dessert before leaving. I had the Gin & Tonic (panna cotta with clove cranberry jelly and ice gin and tonic next to warm orange sabayon and salted lemon sorbet). This was a great light dish to finish with complementary flavours and textures. Without a doubt this is the best restaurant in Rijwisjk and I haven't even mentioned how buzzing and city it is!
