You'll forget the food, but remember the service. Staff are incredibly cold and somewhat hostile- girlfriend was basically told she couldn't have a strong beer by the waitress for the simple reason that the girl thought my girlfriend couldn't handle it. Food took a fair while to come, and while the fries were good and the sandwich quite acceptable, it wasn't good value for money. Menu has some bewildering burger choices- who on earth thinks a burger with Gorgonzola and fig puree will sell better than, I don't know, mozzarella and pesto? If you're looking for somewhere warm, friendly and good value, go to de Beurs. Leave this place for the functions.

The food here is always quite good, but today at lunch the service was appalling. I asked for a 'Hertog Jan Dubbel' beer with my lunch and the waitress replied "Well, we only serve that by the pint... I don't know if you'd like to get drunk already, but..." in a rather condescending tone of voice. Now I am not one to allow people to ruin my mood, but the bad tone was quickly set. I ended up ordering a regular pilsener, to the apparent satisfaction of said waitress. Though she didn't explicitly deny me anything, having worked as a waitress before I'm of the opinion that staff shouldn't question a relatively normal order, unless the person ordering is considered unable to make a sound decision.
The food (pictured, prawn 'kroket' with fries) was fine, not too special, but the service or lack thereof took away most of my respect for this place.

After few times I've been coming here I can say that this place is just amazing! During the winter you can stay inside near the cosy fireplaces, while in the summer you can sit outside to enjoy the breeze of Groningen. Food is absolutely delicious, portions are more than enough, the quality just excellent. On top of that, the waiters are friendly and welcoming! Absolutely recommended!
