This is a place for westerners looking for western food, or somewhere to laze around with a drink. There is a good range of vegetarian and vegan options available as well as a wide range of hot, cold and alcoholic drinks. Staff are friendly and helpful. My main critique is that it is very overpriced especially compared to nearby places; having said that nearby places probably don’t offer food to the standard that Or2k does. The food is well presented but on the whole bland.

This is not the place to come if you are looking for traditional Nepali food, but it is a very nice vegetarian place! I was looking for something different and really enjoyed their Turkish set, which is pretty standard - hummus and some other dips with naan, some yummy seasoned rice, etc.
The main downside is that it's really hard to get a waiter once your dish has been served.
Reservations are not required for lunch.
If you're a bit tired from Nepal and want to feel more "upscale", a bit more modern, and eat some different foods, this is a good place to try.

Easily located in Thamel. Super fun atmosphere--at most tables people sit on the ground on cushions and tapestries are draped along the walls. The menu is international with food from Nepal, the Middle East, Europe, and even an American dish or two. It is an entirely vegetarian restaurant (which was an amazing first-time experience for an American vegetarian), but none of my carnivore friends were ever disappointed with their meals. Dessert is a must and most can be split with a friend. OR2K cannot be missed when in Kathmandu.

The food is good cheap and the portions are huge, you could easily share them. I don't like sitting on the floor and the sitting area is not the cleanest but it looks good. The crowd is also nice. The menu is awesome!!!

First thing's first: It's a vegetarian restaurant (you can find Vegan options as well). However, the food here is one of the best you can find for the price. The ambiance is great. If you like meeting new people, you can find many interesting characters here.
Surprising find: Pizzas here are great. Better than some hyped up wood-fired pizza place that we shall not name here.
