Blowfish lantern of Zubora-ya, that famed fugu restaurant in Dotonbori, Osaka. Fugu is the Japanese delicacy serving pufferfish, which is one of the most poisonous fish in the world. I don’t quite understand why such a poisonous fish would become such a popular delicacy but I guess that’s human nature. We seek the things that make us feel like we’re living at the edge. We stare out an airplane window at the face of free-fall death, jumping out just to feel alive. We climb the highest peaks at sub zero temperatures and low levels of oxygen just to see the horizon from the summit. We put our hearts with love, even when we know there will be hurts and pains, so we can feel loved. And yes, we eat Fugu so we can stare danger in the face and emerge from certain death to say we lived. That’s the melodrama of humanity.

I was a bit disappointed by the fugu, I don't know if it's due to the restaurant or if that kind of fish is usually tasteless. The crab salad was very good though.

Tasteless, dry, and expensive. I thought it'd be a nice thing to try once but it ended being incredibly disappointing. Even ignoring value, it was my worst meal in Japan - I've had better experiences out of the 7-Eleven microwave.

Great service and awesome food. The fugu was delicious and well prepared. If not, I wouldn't be able to write this.

Just ordered a hot pot set and a bbq-style set. I love the grilled one very much. The sauce perfectly matches with the filled puffer fish. And Japanese like using the puffer fish soup to cook congee which is very delicious
