I can't really say anything about Maxwells other than it's about average. The food was ok. Maybe it was the specific dishes I ordered but the overall sense I got was that the menu is convenient for the kitchen. My starter was a prepared smoke salmon dish sitting in a refrigerated glass. Tasted fine but I felt like it could have been something I grabbed off a supermarket shelf. For the mains I got the mussels. It came in a cream and wine/garlic sauce. The additions to the creamy base never came through. It ended tasting like mussels in a warm cream. The mains came with chips that looked like they've given little consideration. The amount of establishments in this country that don't respect the chip. More often than not they are cooked and plated like a convenient carbohydrate. Double fry them and get them golden brown and crispy please!
For dessert I shared a tired looking cheese board. The grapes where bruised and the cheeses lacked variety.
Service was prompt and friendly no complaints in that regard. Pricing was fair. Just think the kitchen could ramp it up a notch. Will give it a go again but would like to see improvements.

Excellent service, very friendly. Food is equally good. Fish and chips can be recommended, so the fish pie.

We got fresh juice and two serves of the French toast, which were huge and delicious. The place was warm, the service was great. Five stars from us.

Comfy atmosphere, very nice food. As a fish snob I did expect a bit more variation but there rest of the menu was tip top. Nice fresh flowers on the tables, quickly fed and helpful staff with tourists. Well worth a dinner.

Excellent restaurant! One of the best chicken dishes we've ever eaten anywhere in the world! Staff was delightful and onion soup was delicious. We shared the chicken dish and soup and left feeling very satisfied. Would highly recommend for a nice sit down dinner.
